Native Trout Files: Westslope Cutthroat

Westslope Cutthroat

Discovered near the Great Falls by Silas Goodrich and named by his superior officers, Oncorhynchus clarkii lewisi was once the widest ranging of all the cutthroats. Since the Corps of Discovery Westslope cutthroat populations have retreated back to the tributaires and headwaters of its ancestral watersheds; the Columbia and the Missouri.
